Sumner Tilton is a Trust & Estate Attorney and Chairman of Fletcher Tilton’s Investment Committee, specializing in estate planning, trust administration, and foundation administration for families, private foundations, and businesses. A lifelong Worcester resident, he is an elected Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and has contributed as both author and panelist for various MCLE estate planning seminars.
Mr. Tilton graduated from Williams College and earned his J.D., cum laude, from Boston University School of Law. He holds honorary degrees from several institutions: doctor of laws from Clark University and Assumption College, doctor of pharmacy from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, and doctor of letters from Becker College.
His extensive community involvement earned him the 2008 Isaiah Thomas Award for civic leadership in Worcester. Mr. Tilton serves in numerous leadership roles, including Life Trustee and former Chairman of Clark University’s Board of Trustees, Honorary Trustee of both the Worcester Art Museum and the EcoTarium, and former Chairman of Choose Worcester, Inc. Mr. Tilton also served as a former member of the Worcester Redevelopment Authority. Currently, he serves as Trustee of the Francis A. and Jacquelyn H. Harrington Foundation, Board Trustee of Cape Cod Healthcare, Inc., and Trustee of both the Ruth H. and Warren A. Ellsworth Foundation and the Mildred H. McEvoy Foundation.
