WORCESTER, MA – March 13, 2025 – Fletcher Tilton PC is pleased to announce the promotion of Michael Duffy from Officer to Director. This promotion comes on the heels of Duffy’s recent recognition as one of Massachusetts Lawyer’s Weekly’s “Go To Tax Lawyers” for 2024.
Duffy, who co-chairs the firm’s Tax Practice Group, has established himself as a leader in corporate, estate, and individual tax planning. Since graduating from law school in 2009, he has built an impressive portfolio of accomplishments in complex tax matters.
“Mike’s promotion to Director reflects his exceptional contributions to our firm and his clients,” said Todd Brodeur, President of Fletcher Tilton. “His expertise in navigating intricate tax situations has consistently delivered outstanding results, and this advancement recognizes both his technical skill and his leadership within Fletcher Tilton.”
Duffy’s notable achievements include negotiating favorable asset-sale treatment for a $90 million mining company, successfully defending real estate professionals in IRS audits, and obtaining waivers of six-figure Affordable Care Act employer penalties for various commercial and municipal clients. He has also served as lead counsel providing U.S.-based due diligence analysis for a company filing for an initial public offering in India.
Beyond his client work, Duffy is active in professional and community organizations. He currently serves as Treasurer on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the Better Business Bureau of Central New England. He co-chairs the Worcester County Bar Association’s Tax, Trusts & Estates Section and provides annual seminars to help fellow members fulfill continuing education requirements. Duffy also authored the Rhode Island chapter of the American Bar Association’s Sales & Use Tax Deskbook.
His commitment to education extends to the public, where he regularly holds free educational webinars on topics ranging from Medicaid planning to multistate taxation, offering continuing legal education credits to eligible attendees.
In 2024, Duffy was recognized in the Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America list, and he was named one of Worcester Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 honorees.
